Students at Hilltop Elementary School didn’t have to do much to get ready for school Dec. 6. As a reward for reaching and exceeding their goal of purchasing Birthday Books, the students were allowed to wear pajamas to school.
The Birthday Book Sale, sponsored by the school’s PTO, was offered during conference nights and sold 184 books, surpassing the school’s goal of 150 books. Christie Amedia served as chair of the Birthday Book Sale.
“Pajama Day was an incentive for the students to purchase Birthday Books from our library. The student could choose a book and the PTO will add a label with the student’s name, birthday and year the book was purchased. The students also gets to be the first one to check the book out from the library,” said Patti Hockensmith, Hilltop Elementary School and C.H. Campbell Elementary School and librarian/media specialist.
The students also took time to stop what they were doing building-wide to ‘cozy up with a good book’ and read for 15 minutes.
