Down Syndrome Association of the Velley to host "Buddy Walk of the Valley 2012"

The Down Syndrome Association of the Valley (DSAV) will host "Buddy Walk of the Valley 2012" on Aug. 11 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Shops at Boardman Park.

Food, entertainment, basket raffles and games will be set up in the Shops at Boardman Park parking lot, behind Quaker Steak and Lube. Right Hand, a local contemporary Christian band, will perform. DJ Richie D., Hi-Five the stilt walker, a dunk tank, bouncers and other games will round out the day's activities.

All individuals with Down syndrome will also receive their annual Buddy Walk medal.

Also, prior to the kick-off of this year’s event, two families who lost loved ones with Down syndrome in 2012 will be honored with plaques in their child’s memory. Two local students pursuing college studies in majors that will directly benefit individuals with Down syndrome will also be presented with $1,000 scholarships. Presentations start at 9:30 a.m.
